Middle market lenders were asked in a recent LPC survey what are their top 3 concerns for the remainder of 2024. Loosening of credit structures, low dealflow and lack of quality deals were cited as the biggest concerns. This stands in contrast to the same time last year when the top concerns were recession, portfolio performance and lack of quality deals. Despite the drop in fears around recession, lenders were also asked that if the US enters a recession this year, how deep will it be? Respondents said they expect any recession to be moderate to shallow, with none expecting a deep recession.
