Private Debt Fundraising Market More Crowded Than Ever
There a currently more private debt funds in market than ever before. The start of 2020 saw a total of 436 private debt funds on the road seeking a record $192bn in combined capital commitments. This marks an increase in both the number of vehicles (+9%) and capital targeted (+14%) compared to January 2019. Of those, 57 are seeking $1bn or more, and these funds account for the majority (58%) of all capital being sought. With a possible market correction around the corner, investors are putting their trust in the most experienced firms.

PE exit activity
Exit value fell to $102.6 billion in the second quarter—down 46.3% from the prior quarter and 7.4% YoY—while exit count dropped to 353, a 14.1% quarterly decline and a 5.4% rise against Q2 2025.
